A voting member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) and an official Grammy U mentor, Bobby has been featured twice in Rolling Stone magazine and has played a key role in mentoring emerging talent.

The Recording Academy chose him to be the only Grammy mentor in Australia, a testament to his ability to develop and position artists for success.

Mike Tilbrook is a Melbourne-based composer, performer, and music teacher with over 10 years of experience in the Australian music and film industry. His work spans film scores, live performance, and music education across all ages. He composed the soundtrack for The Funeral Planner, which won Best Queensland Short Film at the Brisbane International Film Festival (2024). As a guitarist, Mike performs with Ghanaian artist Bortier Okoe, including a featured performance at WOMADelaide. He is passionate about storytelling through sound and has collaborated with a wide range of filmmakers, musicians, and students throughout his diverse career.

Valentino has cultivated his guitar-playing skills since the age of three, embarking on his professional performance journey at 16. His primary specialty lies in flamenco guitar, but his expertise spans diverse genres, encompassing both acoustic and electric styles. Beyond the guitar, he is proficient in keyboard, bass, and percussion. His musical knowledge includes composition, arranging, and music production. He has demonstrated this by producing and releasing four albums. Currently, he remains active in recording, production, and teaching, offering session services to fellow artists. He has created and released four albums containing his original compositions. He has also provided session recordings for artists. He has performed live in various venues in Australia and abroad, as well as at public, private, and corporate events. Some of his releases have aired on radio and streaming platforms.

James

Guitar & Drums Expert

James has current and relevant experience as a music teacher at Guitar Village School of Music and, most recently, at iRock Music School. He has taught private and group instrumental lessons in guitar from beginner to advanced levels, as well as bass and drums at beginner levels. Additionally, James was responsible for conducting holiday programs that provided students the opportunity to meet other aspiring musicians and learn to play together in an ensemble format, often culminating in a concert night where up to four groups, led by the teachers, would perform 2-3 songs.

Kyle Nethersole has been working as a voice, guitar, and piano teacher for over 7 years, teaching music to students of all ages (5-50) and across various skill levels. He specializes in jazz, rock, pop, and folk, and also has experience teaching music theory, songwriting, music production, and audio engineering. Teaching is a complementary practice for Kyle, and he customizes each lesson to fit the student’s experience, interests, and goals. Music has brought Kyle immense joy throughout his life, and he is eager to continue spreading that joy at Rising Tones.
